Shining at Kalamazoo Central
Wednesday, City High School took four students down to Kalamazoo Central for the monthly meet of the West Michigan Legislative Debate League.
High point of the meet was Christine Le, who ably defended her bill to eliminate stem cell funding (talk about a controversial topic!). Other judges in the room were really wowed when when stepped up to defend No Child Left Behind. She brought so many statistics -- no wonder the judges gave her a perfect score. Over all, Christine was the top speaker of the meet.
Also speaking and winning attention were Oana Damacus (the first time for her to speak!), Riet Groenleer, and Evan Vanderhoff.
At awards, Christine took 3rd, and Oana 6th. Way to go!
Upcoming Legislative Debate meets:
Saturday January 20, Portage Central. Two rounds -- this should be fun.
Saturday, February 17, City High School -- more on this shortly.
